An Extension of Your Floor.
When a show lands on top of another, your senior artists should be on the hero shots — not on hundreds of frames of roto and paint.
RotoEdge takes on the detail-heavy groundwork so your team can focus on look development and finals. We work to your naming conventions, your delivery formats and your notes, and we can work under your brand and NDA so the relationship with your client stays yours.
Why Post Houses Outsource.
Outsourcing only helps if it saves more management time than it costs. These are the problems it has to solve.
- 01
Peaks in workload
Overlapping deliveries create short-term demand that does not justify permanent hires.
- 02
Pipeline friction
Files that come back with the wrong names, formats or colour handling create cleanup work for your own team.
- 03
Imprecise notes
Vague notes and vague replies waste rounds. Feedback has to be tied to exact frames to be useful.
- 04
Client relationships
Your client hired you. A partner needs to stay invisible and keep your client’s material confidential.
Fits In, Not Bolted On.
We adapt to your pipeline rather than asking you to adapt to ours.
At the start, we agree your naming conventions, folder structure, versioning, delivery format and how notes are exchanged. Our deliveries then match what your compositors expect, and your coordinators can drop them straight into the shot tracker. Notes are worked frame-accurately: tell us the frame and the issue, and we reply against the same frame.
Scope stays flexible. Some partners send only roto and paint so their compositors can finish in-house; others hand over a shot from extraction to final comp. Either way, the split is agreed per project, and anything outside the agreed scope is raised with you before work on it begins rather than discovered at delivery.
- Rotoscoping — character and object mattes, including hair and motion blur
- Paint & cleanup — clean plates and object removal
- Wire & rig removal and marker removal
- Keying — extractions prepared for your comp
- Matchmove and rotomation — tracks and body tracks for CG
- Compositing — precomps or finals, as agreed
Handoff to Handback.
Our five-stage process, run on the cadence you set.
We are on IST (UTC+5:30), which offsets the working day for partners in Europe and the Americas. A clean end-of-day handoff — plates in, notes logged — lets shots progress while your studio is closed. Deliveries can follow a daily cadence or any schedule we agree. For handoff checklists, see preparing plates for a VFX vendor.
Start with a small batch of representative shots, with your naming spec, a delivery-format sample and a note on how you want feedback exchanged. It lets both teams confirm the pipeline fits before the volume arrives.
Notes come back to you in the same terms they were given: shot name, version, frame and fix. That keeps your coordinators and supervisors working from one record, without translating between two studios’ habits.

Yes, we can work under your brand and NDA, so your client relationship stays with you. Discuss any credit or portfolio conditions with us during scoping.
Will you follow our naming conventions and delivery formats?
Yes. We agree your conventions and formats before the first shot and deliver to them, so files drop straight into your pipeline.
How do you handle notes?
Send notes against specific frames. We address them frame-accurately and return a clearly versioned update, checked internally first.
How often do you deliver?
On the cadence we agree — daily deliveries or another schedule that suits your reviews.
How does the time difference work?
We work on IST (UTC+5:30). With a clear handoff at the end of your day, work can continue while your studio is closed. Our guide to outsourcing VFX to India covers this in more detail.
